CYDC's stunning bank holiday performance

1 June 2019

The talented young dancers from Cumbria Youth Dance Company, took to the rock face and the gardens of Brantwood to perform their awe-inspiring choreography. Influence by the Cumbrian Fells and the notable climbing route of Napes Needle on Scafell, they performed the third phase of their work combining climbing, dance and memories. The dancers beautifully weaved their way in and out of the structure created by Jamie (our Technical Director at Wired Aerial Theatre). After some intensive training with Wired Aerial Theatre at THS in harnesses on a vertical wall, being attached to bungees and rehearsing on their structure, they produced a dramatic and enlightening performance. Their fearless performance saw them hang-off the structure, perform breath-taking falls and test their strength. The dancers managed to captivate and move viewers by exploring transitional movements as well as performing majestically at height on the structure and on a beautiful crag at Langdale.

You can watch part of their performance here or you can catch it at the and Kendall Mountain Festival on the 14th-17th of November. To catch the rest of CYDC performances, keep an eye out on our calendar here.
