We are seeking to appoint a Company Manager who has excellent organising, planning and communication skills, and enjoys travelling and working abroad. 

This is a fixed term contract for 6 months, beginning in May 2024. Work in the UK will be 2 days a week and there will be a period of time (11 weeks) where this job will continue in Austria to work on a large-scale production, on full time hours. After this, we return to the UK and resume work at 2 days a week.  

As this role involves office-based work when in the UK, we are searching for someone who is based locally to Liverpool. 

 

Job Title: Company Manager 

Salary: £28,000 pro rata 

Contract: Initially 6 month Fixed Term 

Responsible to: Directors 

Location: Remote and in person whilst in UK, on site at Producing Festival in Bregenz, Austria  

Hours of Work: UK: 16 hours per week | Bregenz (Austria): 40 hours a week 

Annual Leave: 20 days per year pro rata plus statutory bank holidays. 

Pension: Pension is currently 5% employee 3% employer it will increase as per government guidelines 

Key relationships:  

  • Internally: Artistic Director and Technical Director. 
  • External: Finance Manager, Accountants (re Payroll), HR Consultant, Producing Festival: Bregenz.  

 

Overview of Role 

This role is an opportunity for a keen and motivated individual to company manage Wired, working with the Senior Management Team both in UK and whilst in Austria. When working in Austria, our staff and creative team increases from 5 to 30 and so Wired need a person capable of managing and communicating clearly with all our staff, as well as with our client, the Producing Festival (Bregenz). 

When in the UK you will be working alongside Wired’s Artistic and Technical Directors, Director of Learning and Participation, Arts and Education Co-ordinator and our Communications Manager.  

When in Austria you will be working alongside Wired’s Artistic Director (also Movement Director and Artistic Stunt Director), Technical Director (Technical Stunt Director), Assistant Movement Director and Stunt Supervisor.  

 

Responsibilities and Duties (combining work in UK and Austria) 
  • Work closely and in conjunction with the Senior Management Team  
  • Responsible for the welfare of members of the Company and department check-ins within the working week 
  • Manage HR, safeguarding and any accommodation concerns during the period 
  • Manage any contract queries or concerns that may arise during the period 
  • Liaise between departments to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances 
  • In conjunction with Stage Management and Wired’s Assistant Movement Director, produce accurate rehearsal schedules and show reports 
  • Communicate in a timely manner with Wired’s Senior Management Team, Creative Team and Producing Festival on any day-to-day changes that might impact rehearsals and the running of the Production 
  • Provide payroll information and preparing the weekly payroll file for the Production as well as organising the distribution of living allowance 
  • Maintain financial and other records, together with good management employee relations necessary for the operation of Productions 
  • Assist with and manage return travel arrangements for all staff 
  • Arrange tickets for shows for company members 
  • Liaise with the Producing Festival marketing and press department, to make arrangements for events, attending as necessary 
  • Ensure that the Policies of the Company are followed and liaise closely with both Directors with regards to this 
  • Prepare and schedule performer holiday requests (if necessary) with regular updates submitted to the Directors and The Producing Festival for approval 

 

Skills Required 
  • Clear, confident communication and decision making 
  • Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure 
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with cast, creative and production team  
  • Transparent and open approach, be able to work well under pressure, enjoy leading from the front, and by example 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and use of own initiative 
  • A full awareness of need for integrity and confidentiality 
  • Organised with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook 
  • Experience in a similar role within a large-scale production and working with an international cast

  • Ability to follow instructions and department rules 
  • A motivated individual with a drive to learn new skills and understand what is required to maintain a consistent high production standard 
  • Discretion and ability to work closely with others

Additional Information 
  • Fixed Term Contract: 6 months in duration, beginning May 2024, ending October 2024 
  • Schedule: w/c 6th May –7th June (2 days a week UK based), w/c 10th June – 19th August (full time Austria based), w/c 26th Aug – 1st Nov (2 days a week UK based) 
  • Hours of work: when in the UK – 16 hours a week, when in Austria 40 hours a week 
  • When working in Austria you will receive a living allowance of £250 a week in addition to your salary 
  • Weekend and evening work is integral to work in Austria and less common when in UK 
  • This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety rules & regulations in place at the Production
