We were approached by New Line Cinema to create and perform a stunning aerial theatre finale show for the premiere of The Lord of the Rings – Return of the King, whilst collaborating with New Zealand’s leading aerial company.
128,000 people turned out on the streets of Wellington to witness the film stars parade down a red carpet, which lined the high street. The show was packed with stilt walkers, hobbits, music, large TV screens and live interviews.
Our show started as soon as Peter Jackson had finished his speech. It all began with a large pyrotechnic bomb, which bounced off the buildings as it sounded through the street. Smoke filled the air as we stood on top of the Embassy Theatre, ready to storm down the walls carrying banners with written massages in English and Maori.
