Wendy Hesketh is an explosive, edgy and graceful contemporary
dance theatre performer and aerial harness specialist. Her flying skills were developed by the world famous De La Guarda aerial theatre company, with whom she toured for
a total of five years (1999 - 2004).
Wired creates cutting-edge theatre-based bungee-assisted dance work. This performance technique was conceived in
2000 and involves a performer on one end of the rope and a
climber (off stage) on the other. This technique enables the
dancer on stage to perform ground-based dance movement that
is enhanced by the bungee. This specialised and highly crafted
skill is integral to Wendy’s work.
Since 2000, Wendy has completed four successful works to date the most recent being Stuffed (2004/05) and 'She Lies With Me' (2006).
Wired's surreal piece Handmade/Manmade was commissioned by The Royal Opera House and premiered in November 06 at The Linbury Theatre.

Wired believe there is a unique beauty to aerial movement
that they always aim to promote in any piece. Whether this
is displayed through massive stunts or subtle, simple movements,
the magic of aerial performance is its facility to trick gravity.

An experienced aerial dance and contemporary dance teacher,
Wendy has travelled the world delivering classes, master classes
and residencies. Participants range from children through to
professional dance companies. She is eager to share bungee-assisted
dance technique to promote the combination of dance theatre
and aerial skills and is able to provide bungee-assisted dance workshops both
nationally and internationally.
