Jamie is one of only a handful of European aerial display specialists. His expertise is drawn from 20 years of climbing and mountaineering experience, which has led to extensive aerial theatre work.
Jamie has worked for the world-renowned aerial theatre company De La Guarda since 1999 where he was responsible for managing the climbing team, consulting on and developing the risk assessments and ensuring performer’s safety. His five-year history with them has taken him to London, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Berlin, and South Korea.
Since 2000 he has been heavily involved with New Zealand’s first aerial theatre show, Maui designing and building all aerial displays and making specialised performance harnesses.
More recently he has worked with some of Britain’s leading aerial theatre companies such as Boilerhouse, Scarabeus, The Dream Engine and Gecko.
Over the past 4 years Jamie has learnt to design and build specialised aerial harnesses. His harnesses are very unique and are often built for a specific job and performer.
Jamie works alongside Wendy to create all aerial movement involved in the research and subsequent choreography. He provides technical direction and is responsible for designing all aerial set-ups and ensuring aerial safety.
Jamie has many qualifications such as IRATA Level 2, Bacou-Dalloz R2 high access rescue, powered access licence, SPA climbing award and Off-shore rigging certificate.
Jamie also manages the truss and van hire section of the company. Wired have about 36m of tri-lite truss and a 9m van, which they hire out to various people and companies. Jamie also organises the qualified riggers to erect the truss.
